Overview
An Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) is issued to Ghanaian nationals who need to travel to
Ghana urgently and do not possess a valid Ghanaian passport. It is valid for a single journey to
Ghana only, typically for one month, and becomes void upon entry into Ghana.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a Ghanaian national without a valid Ghanaian passport.

Passport must not have expired for more than one year. Applicants whose passports expired
over a year ago are not eligible for an ETC and may need to apply for a passport renewal instead.

Letter Requesting the Emergency Travel Certificate
- For minors (under 18), a consent letter from the parents or legal guardian (as listed on the full birth certificate) is required.

Proof of Travel
- A flight ticket showing confirmed travel to Ghana.
- For medical emergencies, a supporting letter from the hospital or GP is required.

Proof of Nationality
- A copy of the Ghanaian passport bio-data page or another Ghanaian photo ID.

Passport Photographs
- Two recent passport-sized photographs.

- Total fee: £65.00

- Cash payments are not accepted.
